Learning Assistant (Teacher Aide) - Fixed-term, Part-time position
We seek an experienced learning assistant to support learners from Years 1 - 6 with diverse learning needs for the remainder of 2026. The successful applicant will work alongside teachers and support staff to help students feel safe, connected and ready to learn.
We are looking for someone who:
Has experience supporting neurodiverse learners, including students with ADHD, autism, anxiety, or additional learning needs.
Understands how to support emotional regulation, engagement and positive behaviour for learning.
Can work collaboratively with teachers, specialists, whānau and other support staff
Is flexible, calm, and able to respond to a variety of learner needs throughout the day.
Has strong communication and organisational skills.
Values inclusive practice and culturally responsive approaches.
Experience or strengths in the following areas would be an advantage:
ESOL or supporting English language learners.
Structured literacy or numeracy upport.
Knowledge of restorative practices or trauma-informed approaches.
Understanding of Te Ao Māori and culturally sustaining practice.
Work is 20 hours per week. Pay is according to the Support Staff in Schools’ Collective Agreement and based on skill and experience. Applicants must be willing to consent to a police vet.
