We are well resourced with a wide range of music equipment, providing students with plenty of opportunities to explore and create, with increasing complexity as students progress from the Junior to Senior years. From time to time, we also invite outside experts, such as Russell from the 'Musical Instrument Making Show, to share their knowledge and inspire our learners with hands-on workshops and demonstrations.

Our school engages with specialist dance teachers from Talbot Dance Academy to provide structured dance sessions for learners across the school. Year groups preparing to present a community show receive priority learning, however, each year level receives at least six weeks of dance tuition each year. These sessions are funded by our PTA.

Our Senior Choir is popular among our Year 4-6 singing enthusiasts. This group practices weekly, throughout the year, often preparing for performances at community events such as the School Picnic, Grand-Friends Day, and Carols in the Park.

In addition to the school music programme, students may enrol to learn an instrument during school hours, or before or after school hours. Warkworth School has three itinerant music teachers who provide learning in a range of instruments.
Advanced woodwind and brass musicians are invited to join the Mahurangi College Junior Band on Wednesdays and also to play in the Auckland Primary Principal's Association (APPA) orchestra which performs in the Auckland Town Hall.
For further information or to book lessons, please contact the itinerant music teacher directly:

Every year, two Learning Communities each present a show: Year 1 and Year 4, Year 2 and Year 5, Year 3 and Year 6, in a rotation over three years.
Our shows give every learner two opportunities during their time at our school to shine on stage and to be part of a polished performance that includes singing, dancing, acting and engagement with props and costumes. Learning Communities select the themes for their shows which are often personalised to reinforce current learning themes. Our shows are a much looked-forward-to part of the school’s calendar in which children often experience success in their own, unique ways.

Students who have a passion for the performing arts have an opportunity to audition for our annual, Warkworth's Got Talent, show. If successful, they perform for their school community, at a competitive level.
The range of talent extends to mime and magic; comedy; dance (modern jazz, classical ballet, hip hop); instrumental (individual, ensemble, band); singing (individual and small group), and more.
