Mathex competition 2023

On Thursday the 8th of June, 28 learners from year 5 and 6 travelled to Whangārei to compete in the 2023 Mathex competition. The competition involves answering a challenging set of mathematical problems within 30 minutes. The learners worked in teams of 4 to work through these problems. It is a competition of knowledge and speed as the questions need to be run to a marker and time is taken into account when calculating final placings. 

Warkworth School did very well again this year with one of our year 6 teams coming in 3rd place. Congratulations to all learners who participated in Mathex this year. You all worked intently during training prior to the competition and on the day itself. A special congratulations also to Chloe Kidd-Jung, Ashton Loughnan, Taylor Brown and Taylor Sullivan for placing in the year 6 competition.
