Specialist Services
Dental Clinic:
The Dental Service takes enrolments from the age of two and a half. Children attending school receive regular checks. Mrs. Mary Cave, our Dental Therapist welcomes your enquiries. Telephone 425 8701 (Monday - Thursday)
Public Health Nurse:
The Waitemata District Health Board Public Health Nurse, Mrs Judy Marsden, visits the school on Wednesdays and helps with any health matters for children and their families. She is available for individual consultations with caregivers or parents at home, school or the WDHB office. This is a free service meeting the Health Contracts of the Ministry of Health.
Resource Teacher for Learning and Behaviour (RTLB):
Karen Goodhew and Penny Woolams are our RTLB for the Mahurangi area.
School Doctor:
The Waitemata District Health Board Medical Officer, Dr Phil d’Entremont, who specialises in paediatrics, comes to school by arrangement only to assist with special needs of particular children.
Ministry of Education Group Special Education Service:
The School Psychologist, Shona Aakjaer, who is specifically trained in the diagnosis of children’s difficulties, may be called upon to assist, should this be considered necessary.
Hearing and Vision Checks:
Teachers or parents may request that a child’s hearing or vision be examined by the District Health Board Hearing & Vision technicians. These technicians visit the school at least once a year to check all New Entrants and those referred by teachers or parents.
