Curriculum
The Warkworth School Curriculum follows the New Zealand Curriculum which has a vision of young people who will be confident, connected, actively involved lifelong learners. This fits very nicely with the schools long standing mission statement that states we want, "To nurture in children a lifelong love of learning."
There is an underpinning set of values to the New Zealand and Warkworth Curriculum that include respect, excellence, diversity and integrity.
The key competencies of thinking, using language, symbols and texts, managing self, relating to others and participating and contributing, are taught as elements of the learning areas.
During a child's primary schooling at Warkworth, they will engage in all the learning areas; English, The Arts, Health and Physical Education, Mathematics, Science, Social Science, Learning Languages and Technology. The core skills of Reading, Writing and Mathematics will form a large part of children's learning right through primary schooling and the bulk of their work in the first few years.
We wish to develop confident, positive students who can attain their potential in all areas. Every child has some strengths and potential, and their individuality needs to be found, encouraged and celebrated.
