Warkworth School is an exciting place of learning. It is a progressive school offering high-quality learning experiences activated by dedicated and enthusiastic teachers.
Located in the heart of the Northern Rodney district (view map), Warkworth School is a large, contributing primary school of approximately 600 Year 1 - 6 students. The community is a mixture of semi-rural and rural families.
The Ministry of Education classifies the school as a Decile 7 school. The community has high educational expectations for their children. The school Board of Trustees and parent community work in a strong partnership to provide high-quality resources to support excellence in teaching and learning programmes as well as an attractive, outdoor learning environment.
Warkworth School is one of a handful of schools on a split site in New Zealand. The Junior Area (Years 1-3) and the Senior Area (Years 4-6) are separated by Hill Street. In February 2016, the construction of a new modern learning environment in the Junior Area was completed and opened for student learning.
The school employs over 50 staff including ORS (Ongoing Resourcing Scheme) teachers for special learning needs, ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) teachers, Maori tutors, a dance tutor and specialist music teachers.
The school also offers Cool Kids, an Out of School Care (OSCAR) Programme consisting of Before and After School Care and Holiday Programmes.
